A Green Calling
While maintaining a high level of product quality, VTech has made changes and advancements to the production process to decrease the quantity of hazardous materials used in phones. VTech adheres to and exceeds the strict European Union RoHS guidelines restricting the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. While this initiative has not been adopted in North America, VTech has taken a proactive position to incorporate RoHS compliance in the production of all phones.
In addition to reducing hazardous materials, VTech has been manufacturing ENERGY STARĀ® certified products for over two years. Choosing an ENERGY STAR product means that the product has met strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. VTech achieves this by decreasing the amount of electrical wattage used by their phones.
All VTech phones are packaged using 100% recyclable materials. Recently, VTech reduced its plastic use in packaging by 50%. VTech is also a participating member of the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) which works toward keeping a variety of rechargeable batteries out of landfills and preserving our natural resources. All of these efforts are aimed at supporting our goal of delivering products that truly are Design to fit your home. And your life.™
